About

Tabard Growers was set up in 2017 following community conversations at the annual David Idowu Peace Day.

With funding from the United St Saviours Charity Trust, residents from the Tabard Gardens Estate set about linking up local gardening and food growing projects, promoting new community involvement and sharing resources.

Community growing on the estate had been around since 2008, when a handful of volunteers with TRA experience built raised beds and installed grow-bags for growing fruit and vegetables at the Community Allotments on Manciple Street. Now we have a greenhouse, a herb spiral, fruit trees and a polytunnel. Growers have their own plots and grow a wide range of vegetables and herbs representing the vibrancy of the local community.
